It all started in 1978 when Paul Van Doren decided to create something in the manner of the legendary model #36, now widely known as the Vans Old Skool. His ambition was to design a shoe that would meet the demands of skaters and offer them a whole new level of functionality and style. He achieved this with the new model #38, now known as the Vans Sk8-Hi, which has already celebrated 40 years since its launch. He couldn't leave out the iconic sidestripe, of course.
